Grief Circle for Gaza

Wed, Apr 24

on zoom

Everyday under colonial, racial, capitalism, we witness unspeakable horrors. Over the past several months we've been watching in horror as Israel inflicts genocide on Palestinians. It's necessary to hold our grief in collectivity.

About the event

We invite you to join in a Grief Circle for Gaza on Wednesday April 24 from 7:30 - 8:30 PM NT / 7 - 8 PM AT, facilitated by Elena Yehia.

This is an invitation to join us in a safe space where we can honour and hold our grief in community during this ongoing genocide.

Elena is a Work That Reconnects (WTR) Network trained facilitator.

Her approach is trauma-informed and IFS (Internal Family Systems) informed. And she is interested in decolonial frameworks towards individual/collective care.

Email SocialJusticeCoopNL@gmail.com to receive the invitation.

Here are the meeting guidelines and access info for SJC meetings in general. These will be used for the Grief Circle along with some that Elena will add/introduce at the beginning.

Please feel welcome to reach out with any questions, concerns, or access needs.

We respectfully acknowledge the land on which we gather as the ancestral homelands of the Beothuk, whose culture has been lost forever and can never be recovered. We also acknowledge the island of Ktaqmkuk (Newfoundland) as the unceded, traditional territory of the Beothuk and the Mi'kmaq. And we acknowledge Labrador as the traditional and ancestral homelands of the Innu of Nitassinan, Inuit of Nunatsiavut, and Inuit of NunatuKavut. We recognize all First Peoples who were here before us, those who live with us now, and the seven generations to come. As First Peoples have done since time immemorial, we strive to be responsible stewards of the land and to respect the cultures, ceremonies, and traditions of all who call it home. As we open our hearts and minds to the past, we commit ourselves to working in a spirit of truth and reconciliation to make a better future for all.

(Borrowed with gratitude from First Light)
